May 2012

District Conference:
We have just completed the Alabama District Conference, and I want to express my appreciation for the confidence the ministers placed in me in electing me for two more years as Alabama District Superintendent.  I will do my best to continue to serve faithfully in this capacity.  I also want to congratulate the other officers elected at this meeting:

Apostolic Man President – J. B. Sims
Global Missions Director – Joe Patterson
Ladies Ministry President – Sonja Wells
North American Missions Secretary – Darryl Freeman
Sunday School Director – Philip Blalock
Youth President – Shawn Meeks
Youth Secretary – Michael Thomas II
Minister’s Appeal Counsel – R. C. Craft

I have great confidence in these leaders and know that they will serve Alabama well.  A special thanks to Rev. and Mrs. Sammy Sherrill for many years of service to the Alabama Youth, and a job well done.

New Church Plants:
Two more church plants were approved by the District Board in this meeting.  Michael Shuman is starting a Preaching Point in Double Springs, sponsored by the Pentecostals of Hamilton, Pastor Jason Dobbs.  Mark Harrelson is starting a Daughter Work in West Mobile, sponsored by the United Pentecostal Church of Dothan, pastors Philip Harrelson and Joe Patterson.  Other works are in the embryonic stage and we should be updating this information soon.

Knowles-WilliamNew Pastor:
I want to welcome William Knowles and his family to Alabama, as they have recently been elected to the Pastorate of the Pentecostals of Phenix City.  Congratulations and thanks are in order for Rev. and Mrs. Anthony Jarry, who have labored faithfully in planting this church and bringing it to this point.  Church planters are the unsung heroes of North America!  We look forward to the fellowship with the Knowles as he returns from Florida to his Alabama roots.

Pre-approved Sites:

There are several pre-approved sites in Alabama.  You can find this information by clicking here.
We have some very positive prospects in Double Springs.  Help us pray for Oneonta, Birmingham, Hoover, Jacksonville, Clanton, Tuskegee, Daphne/Fairhope, and Troy.  I am also pleased to announce a new autonomous Spanish church in Oxford, Alabama, pastored by Daniel Valladares.

North American Missionaries:
We currently have ten North American Missionaries on location in Alabama.  Jay Davis pastors Cornerstone Church in Lincoln, Steve Drake pastors Apostolic House of Prayer in Ragland, Matt Edmonson pastors Redeemed Apostolic Church in Tuscaloosa, Minerva Garcia pastors La nina de sus ojos, Iglesia Pentecostal in Athens, Joseph Grimes pastors The Apostolics of Citronelle, Andy Salinas pastors the Pentecostals of Dadeville, John-Paul Wallace pastors 2.42 Church in Montgomery, James Williams III pastors Point of Grace Church in Birmingham, Randall Yeoman pastors Apostolic Revival Center in Hazel Green, and Steve Avery pastors Open Door of Holiness Church in Cuba.  Let’s build a wall of prayer around these church planters, and remember that you can financially support them through ACTS (Alabama Call to Souls).  Contact Alabama North American Missions for more information.

Camp Season:
The June camps are upon us.  Youth Camp is June 12-15, Camp Meeting is June 19-22, and Crusader Camp is June 26-29.  Keep tuned to the Website for information concerning these exciting events.
